چکیده

What is the relationship to 'contemporary' — 'now' in Scottish Gaelic poetry? How are idea of ‘present’, minoritized status Gaelic, and evolving between language landscape (and meaningless) figured poems? Taking these questions as a starting point, this essay explores through ideas Agamben, Latour, Christopher Whyte range contemporary poems by writers (including Meg Bateman, Ruaraidh MacThòmais, Whyte, Rody Gorman, Angus Peter Campbell, Deborah Moffatt), ways which poets respond anger, with humour, defiance linguistic environmental crises, pressures associated oblivion translation, pervasive surrounding fug English.
